Breaking News: Tax Filing Deadline Changed to July 15

TAX FILING DEADLINE IS NOW EXTENDED FROM APRIL 15 TO JULY 15

Update: Additional guidelines have been put into place since this post was created. Please access current tax deadline and payment information here.

In an update from news earlier in the week about the tax payment due date being extended but the filing date remaining the same, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has announced that the April 15 deadline for filing tax returns will now be postponed until July 15.

“At [President Trump’s] direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties,” Mnuchin said in a March 20 tweet.

The change comes amid a wave of criticism that merely extending the deadline for making tax payments was insufficient and unnecessarily confusing to taxpayers.
