Smith Leonard PLLC is both honored and humbled to announce the retirement of James Mitchell, Assurance and Advisory Partner.
Since Smith Leonard’s inception in 2007, James has been a cornerstone of our Assurance and Advisory practice. His leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues have helped shape who we are today not just as a firm, but as a family. Over the years, James has mentored countless professionals, built deep and lasting relationships in the business community, and continuously exemplified what it means to lead with compassion and professionalism.
James’ retirement comes following his recent diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare and progressive neurological disorder. While this news is difficult, it only deepens our admiration for his strength and spirit.
“James has been more than a business partner. He’s been a friend, a mentor, and the heart of so much of what makes Smith Leonard special,” said Kevin Benson, Managing Partner. “His impact will be felt for years to come, and we’re committed to honoring his legacy in a way that reflects the generosity and grit he’s shown throughout his career.”
In celebration of James’ retirement and in support of ongoing MSA research and awareness, Smith Leonard will be hosting a 5K/1-mile fun run to benefit Mission MSA, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting those affected by MSA and advancing research toward a cure. More details about the event and fundraising opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks.
As we prepare to celebrate James’ remarkable career, we do so with deep gratitude. His work, friendship, and leadership have left an indelible mark on us all.
