College recruiting is moving faster each year. Students and firms are connecting earlier, resulting in students who already have offers in hand by the time the fall semester begins at school. The best way for students to ensure that they’re putting themselves ahead of the pack to obtain an accounting internship (which leads to a full time offer!) is to attend firm summer leadership conferences. These conferences are the best way for students to have early exposure to the firms they’re interested in. They can oftentimes view the offices, cultures, regions, and clients that they would be working with every day. At Smith Leonard, we believe this is a valuable and essential part of recruiting.  Why?  For the following reasons:

1. Get noticed first (and hopefully secure an early internship offer)
2. See real life experiences, places, and people that you will work with full-time
3. Take a test run of a firm and their culture
4. Remove the stress from fall recruiting by knowing where you’re going before you return to campus

We believe finding the right firm for your internship is important. Because it’s so much more than an internship. It’s the launchpad to your full time career. It’s the first step in a great future in accounting. To take this first step, Smith Leonard provides our Find Your Fit Tour every summer. In 2020, this tour will be held June 11-12 and will give students a full picture of the firm and the Piedmont Triad community.
