FBest firms 2014or five years running, Accounting Today and Best Companies Group has named Smith Leonard PLLC as one of America’s “Best Accounting Firms to Work For.”

The annual List of Best Accounting Firms comprises 100 firms throughout the nation in three different size categories.  According to Darlene Leonard, Managing Partner of Smith Leonard, “This award recognizes that our employees are satisfied at work which translates into better client service and happy clients.”

One of the Triad’s leading CPA firms, with a focus on assurance, tax, and consulting services, Smith Leonard has grown its staff by over 40% since the company acquired the High Point BDO practice in 2007. “Our success and continued growth are a tribute not only to our entire team, but also to our valued clients. We’re grateful for their support and thankful to all our associates for their loyalty and dedication,” Leonard said.

Along with other accounting firms from across the country, Smith Leonard participated in a two-part survey process. The first includes an evaluation of workplace systems, policies and practices; the second is an anonymous employee survey.

  • Be publicly or privately held;
  • Have a U.S. facility;
  • Have at least 15 employees working in the U.S.;
  • Be in business a minimum of 1 year;

Smith Leonard primarily serves the Piedmont Triad through its headquarters in High Point and a second office in Lexington, NC, but the firm’s reach extends into other parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and beyond. The practice is an independent member of the BDO Alliance USA, a nationwide association of independently owned accounting and consulting firms.
