Here’s what’s changing and how it impacts you.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) is getting an upgrade this fall with a new look, smarter tools, and AI-powered features, but the fundamentals you already know and rely on aren’t changing.
The most immediate updates you’ll notice are in Bank Feeds, where many of you spend the most time. You’ll also see improvements to reporting, search, and customer management tools.
The option to migrate to the new layout released on August 4. You can switch back to the old view until September 30, but starting October 1, the new layout will be permanent for all users.
Key Dates to Remember
- August 4: Migration to the new layout begins.
- Until September 30: Option to switch back to the old view.
- October 1: New layout becomes permanent in QuickBooks Online.
Bank Feed Updates You’ll Notice Most
The new Bank Feed experience keeps all the capabilities you’re used to, but adds several time-saving features and smarter suggestions:
- Edit transactions in place: update category, vendor, class, location, or product/service without opening extra windows.
- See full bank descriptions instantly by hovering over the description field.
- Smarter categorization suggestions that learn from your transaction history and vendor details.
- Improved matching capabilities including more complex “one-to-many” matches the old feed couldn’t handle.
- Easier payee entry: add a new payee directly from the dropdown without leaving the bank feed.
- Clear explanations for every suggestion: see why QBO chose a category or payee, with examples from your past activity.
- Everything you had before: create rules, split transactions, exclude transactions, mark as transfers, resize/group columns, and more.

Other New Features You’ll See
While Bank Feeds will likely be your first stop, QBO is adding several other tools to help your SL team make managing your finances more efficient:
Improved Insights & Reporting
A customizable performance dashboard now tracks your financial health in one place. You’ll also have access to P&L and balance sheet insights, and with Bill Pay Basic (now included in your plan), you’ll unlock more cash flow data.
Smart Search
A unified search tool makes it faster to find transactions, customers, accounts, reports, and help resources across the platform.
Customer Hub (CRM)
New built-in CRM tools help you organize and follow up with customers and leads, capture referrals, and build repeat business — all without leaving QBO.
What You Can Do Now
Try the new layout to get comfortable with the changes. If you prefer, switch back to the old layout until September 30 — we can show you how or handle it for you.
